Abstract

|
Cerebral polyopia describes seeing multiple images of a single object after fixation on a stimulus. It is sometimes confused with palinopsia, which is defined as the persistence or recurrence of visual images after the stimulus has been removed. If pinholes or glasses do not correct the polyopia, it is the important clue to cerebral polyopia that is distinguished from ocular polyopia. Cerebral polyopia is a rare manifestation of occipital lobe lesions. Although the mechanism remains uncertain, it is speculated about the level of processing of visual information with erroneous visual perceptions. Herein we comprehensively review the cerebral polyopia.
